We’re so pleased to share Henna’s thoughts, who we sponsored to volunteer in India.

My time at Prem Dan Garden School in Mumbai was truly unforgettable. On our first day, we were warmly welcomed by the children, who performed beautiful songs and dances. Over the time we were there we created large, colourful murals, decorating a giant caterpillar after reading the hungry caterpillar and learning about what these animals like to eat. No activity was complete without dancing – music was always playing, both Indian and western, and the children were constantly teaching us their traditional Indian dance moves. The Garden School is more than just a school, here, children who might otherwise have no access to education are taught to read and write in English, preparing them for an exam that determines their eligibility for sponsorship. If they pass, Prem Dan finds a sponsor to support their further education. Beyond academics, the school ensures that every child receives two meals a day, clean water, and often clothing. For many of these children, this is the only place where they can learn and dream of a future.
